So I Wrote A Book for Badass Brides

June 2, 2017

When you’ve photographed and attended as many weddings as I have, it’s impossible to avoid icky feelings about the wedding industry. It was in planning my own wedding that it really hit me: it’s all about money.

From the moment your boo slips an engagement ring on your finger, florists and bakers and caterers alike are clamoring to get their paws on your cold, hard cash. It’s incredibly overwhelming, especially once the quotes start rolling in. That’s when you realize if you go about things the traditional way, you’ve got to be willing to part with an arm, a leg and a kidney.

I don’t know about y’all, but I wasn’t willing to sell any organs on the black market to afford the $20,000 venue I had my heart set on.

In planning my own wedding, and in seeing how others cut corners on their big day, I realized there needed to be a guide for the unconventional bride. I knew there had to be others out there like me, unwilling to part with their hard-earned stacks for a poofy white dress they’d only wear once or floral arrangements that would be tossed in the dumpster at the end of the night. I believed there was another way, and I wanted to share how I cracked the code with the billions of other badass brides out there!

Over the last few months, I’ve done a lot of research and writing, and I’ve put together a guide for brides who are calling bullcrap on tradition and forging their own, perhaps thriftier paths.

Although I’d be lying if I said this book wasn’t birthed out of a deep frustration with the wedding industry, I couldn’t be more excited to reveal what I’ve spent the last several months plugging away at. If you believe you shouldn’t have to go broke to marry your best friend, stay tuned for lots of great tips, tricks and bits of weirdness in The Unapologetic Guide to Being a Badass Bride!
